A year at our school

Community Events
Our school values strong connections with families and the wider community through a variety of welcoming events. Community gatherings like Meet the Teacher evenings, Culture and Coffee mornings, and other social occasions provide opportunities to connect, share, and celebrate our diverse school community. These events foster collaboration, build relationships, and create a supportive environment where everyone feels included and valued.

PBL Assembly
Our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Assembly is held each term to recognise and celebrate students who demonstrate our school values through positive behaviour and effort. This special assembly highlights achievements, encourages a supportive school culture, and motivates all students to continue striving for their best. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the whole school community to come together and celebrate success and kindness.

Easter Hat Parade
Our Easter Hat Parade is a fun and festive tradition that brings creativity and community spirit to life! Students design and wear their own colourful, imaginative hats as we celebrate the joy of the season together with families and community members. This lively event encourages artistic expression, teamwork, and plenty of smiles, making it a highlight of the school calendar.

ANZAC Day/Remembrance Day
At our school, ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day are important occasions where we come together to honour and remember the courage, sacrifice, and service of our armed forces. Through thoughtful ceremonies, reflections, and educational activities, students learn about the significance of these days and the values of respect, gratitude, and peace. These commemorations help foster a strong sense of community and appreciation for our shared history and freedoms.

Education Week
Education Week is a special time when our school celebrates the joy of learning and the achievements of our students and staff. Throughout the week, we host a variety of engaging activities, open classrooms, and community events that showcase the creativity, hard work, and progress of our school community. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect, share stories, and highlight the importance of education in shaping bright futures.

Book Week
Book Week is a vibrant celebration of reading and storytelling at our school! Throughout the week, students dive into exciting books, participate in creative activities, and enjoy special events that inspire a love of literature. Highlights include the colourful Book Parade, where students dress as their favourite characters, an exciting author visit incursion giving students the unique opportunity to meet and engage with a real author, and the Scholastic Book Fair, offering a fantastic selection of books for all ages.

Mother's and Father's Day
Our school warmly celebrates Mother’s Day and Father’s Day with special breakfast events that bring families and the school community together. These celebrations are a wonderful opportunity for students to show appreciation for their parents and carers in a relaxed and joyful setting. Enjoy delicious food, heartwarming moments, and the chance to connect with others as we honour the important role of family in our students’ lives. Join us in making these days memorable and full of gratitude!

Presentation Day
Presentation Day is a highlight of our school year, where we come together to celebrate the achievements and growth of our students. This special event recognises academic excellence, effort, leadership, and outstanding contributions across all areas of school life. Families, staff, and students join in to honour hard work and success, creating lasting memories as we reflect on a year of learning and accomplishments. Presentation Day is a proud moment for our whole school community!

Graduation
Our Kindergarten and Year 6 graduations are special celebrations that mark important milestones in our students’ learning journeys. Families and the school community come together to honour achievements and share proud moments. Year 6 students also enjoy a farewell dinner, celebrating their time at the school and creating lasting memories before moving on to high school.
"Our daughter joined APS school in Kindergarten and is now in Year 1, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience so far. The staff are incredibly caring and genuinely loving towards the children. What we value most is how they take the time to understand each child’s individual needs and strengths, and put in so much effort to help them improve in areas where they may be struggling.
The school also places a lot of importance on events and extracurricular activities, which really adds to the children’s learning experience. The family events, in particular, have been wonderful—they bring everyone together and create such a warm, welcoming community.
We truly feel grateful to be part of APS school and appreciate all the dedication and hard work the staff put in every day."
